PLAIN, PART ONE

Todd Corcoran (vocal/guitar)

Since the turn of the century Todd Corcoran has quietly been making his own uniquely astounding music with an unparalleled mixture of natural talent, creativity and unyielding discipline rarely, if ever, realized on such a level before. To the casual listener Todd makes his music seem so simple, just another guy playing a guitar, but to anyone who has ever tried to play and sing his music my choice of a word like “unparalleled” in the previous sentence could never in any way be interpreted as any form of hyperbole. Although the technically unbelievable feats that Todd accomplishes as a singer/songwriter may seem to be more than enough to capture one's attention, his true and substantial merit as a musician lies much deeper in the fire and soul of which he routinely composes and performs. There is just something wonderful about the sound of a singer with a single, nylon stringed guitar. Just as there is also something wonderful about Todd Corcoran's latest gift to the world of music: Plain. From “Come Back to Me” through “Sometimes” may you rejoice in the wonder over and over again for years to come.

EXTRA SPECIAL THANKS to my wife, family and friends. SUPER, EXTRA SPECIAL THANKS to all the musicians who have taken the time to create music that has influenced me and influenced my influences—if it wasn't for you 95% of what I do wouldn't occur to me to do. SUPER DUPER, EXTRA SPECIAL THANKS to the sometimes nameless but not faceless supporters of my music. Your kind words, joy and enthusiasm for my music are carried with me wherever I go.

Come back to me (2'50)

Todd Corcoran

ome back to me

the sounds of the trees

the trees that edged those faultless streets

wrapped in shade

i would sleep

often i think of youth

and my youth comes back to me

running only to run

stumbling upon real love

but it's strange

how all that has remained

has changed

come back to me

where my heart still beats

where my heart breaks

where i am afraid

come back to me

come back

come back

to me

i'm doing okay (2'22)

Todd Corcoran

in this lonesome anxious world

i can find

i can find a way

between those who pretend and hate

i can find a way

i can find a way

and i'm doing okay

i'm gonna be just fine

we all get one life

and i'm living mine

in the plight of the whistling winds

i can hear

i can hear a name

between whistlings i hear a sound

very low

very low but loud

and i'm doing okay

i'm gonna be just fine

we all get one life

and i'm living mine

TO BE WITH YOU (3'44)

Todd Corcoran

everything i hear

will fade away

some day

time's so long

there must be something

of our lives

what's to say

of a rainy day the cries of every man

or the weariness

in their eyes

traveling today

everything i see

will fade

away

some day

what's to say

of tomorrow

what's to say

of a set sun

yet somehow

morning comes

by the sea once more

down by the lake

everything i do

will fade

away

was it me

was it real

have i wandered this way before

will i wander this way again

so sad

so strange

the days before and behind

what can i say

everything i fear

will fade

away

some day

everything i curse

will fade

away

and i can choose

to spend my time

with you

upon the empty saturdays

with you

i shall not breathe in vain

with you

to be with you

this is what i can choose

FOLK SONG (2'07)

Todd Corcoran

listen well

if we're asleep

we cannot cry

please listen well

the brightest star will forever die

and the rain falls down

somewhere in the sea

the rain falls down

somewhere in the sea

listen well

if we're always right

then we're always wrong

please listen well

a bitter wind is never strong

and the rain falls down

somewhere in the sea

and the rain falls down

the rain falls down

the rain falls down

somewhere in the sea

listen well

if you are you

then i am me

please listen well

how else can it be

and the rain falls down

somewhere in the sea

and the rain falls down

somewhere in the sea

HEAR THE LONESOME CRIES (2'41)

Todd Corcoran

hear the lonesome cries of him

how all the righteous cry over him

this old train keeps passing through hear the cries

of the many

of the few

hear the lonesome cries in a room

a room full of no one

looking outside soon

midnight ramblings tear down through hear the cries

cries

of the many

of the few

hear the cries

of our one sided truths

hear the crows

as they rise from beyond

upon helpless branches

they shiver against what’s gone

midnight songs are holding true

hear the cries

of the many

of the few

SOMETIMES (2'42)

Todd Corcoran

sometimes there’s a reason

sometimes i want to know

where i’m going

if it matters at all

sometimes i dream

sometimes i cry

sometimes i think of you

sometimes there’s a reason

cause that is what i know

when i’m pretending

i know anything at all

sometimes i hope

sometimes i hurt

sometimes i wonder why

i lose my way

sometimes

time goes slow

sometimes

sometimes i feel okay

sometimes there’s a reason

sometimes i want to know
