Some people will tell you that when you choose to play music as a vocation you are choosing a life full of heartache and misery. I do not agree. I have been fondly pursuing the art of music since I was eight years old and I can honestly say that the more I learn, the more songs I play, the more beautiful life becomes.
I realize success is an accepted goal almost always connected with material achievement. However, the intrinsic value of music cannot be measured in terms of success. Music brings people together in ways that cannot be put into words. When I think of the endless hours of joy I've received from music I've heard from people I'll never know, and how these strangers have somehow managed to make my life better, I cannot think of too many things more worthwhile than that.
The fact of the matter is our situation here on earth is somewhat curious. Each of us comes for a short time, not knowing exactly why. But we can choose to spend our time with the people we love doing the things we love. This makes us something very special.
